This policy covers the use of LLM (Large Language Models, also know as AI or GenAI) and LLM-based tools (ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, Zed AI, Cursor.dev, etc.) in Firefly Zero projects.
- We do not accept LLM-assisted contributions, such as (but not limited to) code, prose, images, music, documentation, bug reports, feature requests, etc.
- We do not accept LLM-assisted projects into catalog. This includes game with fully or partially LLM-generated code, sprites, dialogs, music, etc.
- You are free to produce LLM-generated games for Firefly Zero as long as you distribute it through third-party channels (such as itch.io) and don’t claim (or imply) that the project is endorsed by Firefly Zero.
- We do not allow AI-generated questions or messages in our community channels (Discord, email).
- We do not reply to AI-generated questions, messages, or posts on social media.
This commitment goes both ways. From our side, we promise to manually write all of our code, review your contributions, reply to your questions, etc.
Enforcement#
This policy is not open to discussion. Any content submitted that is clearly labelled as LLM-generated will be immediately closed, and any attempt to bypass this policy in any way will result in a ban from the project. Any LLM-managed accounts will be immediately banned without a warning.
Why#
There is a lot written about the harm that LLMs cause to the world and we’ll not go into much details here. LLMs destroy environment, internet, books, expert knowledge, creativity, equality, human connection, and trust. Every time you use such tools, you’re making the whole world worse in exchange for a little personal convenience.
